Moving with working from home in mind…

As another chapter of our life begins, we look to the future and make plans for a whole New Year. For many of us, life has been put on hold in 2020; Weddings have been postponed, family holidays cancelled and with more time spent at home we have made the most of living space and instead invested our hard-earned money in improving our home.

A Summer House can become a garden office

Some of us have learnt new skills around the house, pottering about in the garden and putting our DIY skills to use, building makeshift bars to still enjoy that Friday night G+T, despite being barricaded to our dwellings.

Others have completely transformed their homes after realising the room for improvement and where we enjoy spending our time; In turn filling up the order books of our Independent Network members by investing in new windows, doors and extensions to enjoy with the family. A well lit space is important for home working

But now with a New Year and a feeling of optimism in the air, it’s time to think about the future. If you’re looking to move in 2021, what will you be looking for in a new home?

2020 has transformed the way we view our living space. We made the most of the light and air in our home when we were only allowed to venture out for half an hour a day (can you believe that actually happened?!), we made the most of our gardens, throwing open the doors and letting the outside in and strangely turned our home to gym, school and office!

An attractive workspace can make you happier

A survey by the Home Builders Federation found that since the Covid-19 pandemic, 40% of British homeowners would look for space for an office if they were to move. Whether it’s an outbuilding, converted garage, extension or simply a spare bedroom, 2020 has changed the way we work and despite offices reopening, many organisations have become more flexible to those wanting to work from home.
