A Building Regulations Certificate is a document that confirms your installation complies with the relevant Building Regulations requirements.
Once your installation has been completed, your installer will normally register the work with their Competent Person Scheme (CPS), such as FENSA, CERTASS or Assure. The scheme will then assess the registration and issue a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate directly to the homeowner.
You should typically receive your certificate within 30 days of the installation being completed.
It is important to keep this certificate safe, as you may be asked to provide it when selling your property. Solicitors acting on behalf of a buyer will often request evidence that replacement windows and doors comply with Building Regulations as part of the conveyancing process.
