What type of roof can I have for a conservatory?

You can fit a variety of different roofing systems to a conservatory, giving you great flexibility in how your conservatory will look and feel.  The three main roofing solutions are glass, polycarbonate, and solid or tiled roofing. Glass is the most popular option and is very versatile.  Depending on your needs, you can choose different types of glass that are more thermally efficient to keep the space warmer, tinted glass to reduce sunlight in the conservatory and even self0-cleaning glass that will continue to look great. Polycarbonate is often the cheaper alternative to glass.   It provides less light into the space as it is opaquer than glass and offers different insulating properties.  In some cases, polycarbonate roofing can be slightly noisier when it rains. Solid, or tiled roofing makes the structure look more solid and integrated in to the design of your home.  The insulating properties of a modern solid roofing system helps maintain temperature better throughout the year, and while it lets in much less natural light, you can fit windows in the ceiling to complement your other lighting.
